Investment seminar for Taiwanese companies from the semiconductor industry

At the beginning of February 2024, a seminar was held presenting the investment environment in the Czech Republic for the semiconductor supply chain from Taiwan.

Why should a Taiwanese company decide to invest in the Czech Republic? Does the Czech Republic have experts in technical fields? Does the Czech government offer incentives for Taiwanese investors? Are there suitable locations in the Czech Republic for Taiwanese investments?

We tried to answer all these and other questions at the Investment Seminar for the Semiconductor Supply Chain (Semiconductors: Check the Czechs!), which was organized by the Czech Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei in cooperation with the TeaLa alliance (Taiwan Eastbound Alliance -Landing America) and the Taiwan Chamber of Commerce in the Czech Republic (TCCCZ). The seminar took place Thursday (February 1, 2024) in Taipei.

Why focus on the semiconductor industry? Because the EU as a whole supports the influx of foreign chip manufacturers and the building of the entire semiconductor ecosystem in Europe (EU Chips Act) and the Czech Republic is preparing a national strategy in this context. Some Taiwanese companies have already announced their entry into Europe, while others are still considering. And we would like to acquire some of these companies for the Czech Republic.

Advantages of the Czech Republic, which, among other things, were heard at the seminar:

  • developed chip ecosystem in Czechia
  • talented people
  • established Czech National Semiconductor Cluster
  • close proximity to Dresden
  • direct flight between Taipei – Prague
  • member of the European Union
  • safe country
  • attractive government incentives
  • joint (Czech-Taiwanese) Advanced Chip Research Centre (ACRC) and
  • popular investment destination for Taiwanese companies.
